As you know, Windsor CC had a devastating fire last August. The club has been closed for the duration of the school year. We are trying to maintain as many club programs as possible. A special thank you goes to Glenwood CC for providing ice time to our teams. Thank you to our many volunteers for running our programs even though we currently don’t have a building to run them from.
We also appreciate all the efforts made by Windsor School in order to accommodate our Tiny Tots Program and the Windsor Cares for Kids Daycare this school year. Without the help from Windsor School and the Louis Riel School Division Board of Trustees, many families would have been devastated by the loss of these programs.
A special thank you also goes out to the community centres here in St Vital for their continuing support of Windsor financially and emotionally. It would have been a tough road without everyone lending a hand.
Lastly, we would like to thank the many businesses that have supported us through donations of product and financial support for our fundraising fire social. The support of our community is overwhelming and most appreciated.
To those we have missed in our thanks, please know that everything you do is appreciated far more than you will ever know.
Even though we are in the middle of the winter season, it is time to start thinking about Spring and Summer Programs at Windsor Community Centre. Our staff and volunteers are working very hard to keep you informed of all upcoming events and programs. We do our best to offer something for everyone.
Windsor Community Centre is always looking for interested community members to volunteer in our programs. We appreciate the many hours that go into each and every one of our programs and events, and the tremendous community spirit our volunteers offer. It would be impossible for our community center to run without volunteers.
Windsor will be holding their Annual General Meeting in the spring. We would encourage all community members to come to the meetings and see what we’re up to and how you can help.
I have had the privilege of acting as Windsor CC board member for the past 12 years. For the upcoming year I have decided it is time for someone else to have the wonderful opportunity I was able to experience. Being a part of such a wonderful community club gave me so many opportunities to meet such wonderful people in our neighbourhood and make lifelong friendships for myself and my family. My work on the Board as President allowed me to be a part of paving the way for our children and watching them grow up and enjoy all the many events and programs that Windsor CC has offered over the years. I will be passing the position on to a very capable and driven woman who will continue the work I have enjoyed doing for so many years. Even though I will no longer be president of WCC, I will always be a part of the club as the club is a place I call home.
Community spirit is also visible in the local businesses of Old St. Vital. We would like to thank them for supporting this edition of our newsletter and look forward to continuing to work with them to make this a strong, viable community for business and pleasure. Please support their businesses with your patronage.
See you in the community!
President, Windsor Community Centre
